Boscobel is a restored Federal period house overlooking the river with period furniture and decorative arts.
  • FDR Home - Lifelong home of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, includes home, gravesite and Rose Garden. The Roosevelt Presidential Library & Museum is located on the grounds.
  • Hudson River School of Art - An online collection of some of the important paintings by artists of the Hudson River School of Art.
  • Kingston - First capitol of New York State, now a vibrant designated urban cultural center with museums, walking tours of the centuries old Stockade Area, alive and active riverfront area called the Rondout, performing arts and Woodstock & the Catskills to the west.
  • Mohonk Mountain House - The last of the great Victorian destination resorts, once part of "The Grand Tour", a must for every foreign visitor.

  • Olana - 250 acre hilltop estate of Frederic Edwin Church, an internationally renowned Hudson River School artist. The Main residence is designed in the Moorish style by Church and Calvert Vaux, containing the original elaborate interiors and furnishings.
  • Philipsburg Manor - A working 18th century farm, featuring stone manor house filled with collection of 17th & 18th century furnishings, a working water powered grist mill, an 18th century barn and an 18th century style herb and kitchen garden.
  • Rhinecliff - A romantic little hamlet hugging the east bank of the Hudson River.
  • Rondout Lighthouse - Historic 1913 lighthouse, the largest and newst of the Hudson River family stations. Operated as a satellite museum of the Hudson River Maritime Museum, the lighthouse contains period furnishings and exhibits documenting the history of the Rondout lighthouse and the keepers & their families.
  • Saugerties - Old rivertown being revitalized by the influx of quality antiques stores and specialty shops.
  • Sunnyside - The country home of Washington Irving between 1835 and 1859. Set at the bottom of a hill next to the Hudson River, this is the home the romantic Irving called his "little snuggery." The home was built in the late 17th century as a tenant farmer's cottage and was occupied in the 18th century by a branch of the Van Tassel Family that figures in Irving's "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow." Irving added the Dutch style stepped gables, attached a Romanesque tower and planted wisteria and ivy vines, all recognizable images of America's literary and architectural history.
  • Hotel Thayer - 70 year old hotel located on the grounds of the US Military Academy at West Point.
  • Union Church of Pocantico Hills - Rockefeller church with stained glass windows by Chagall and Henri Matisse.
  • Washington's Headquarters - General George Washington's longest stay at a Revolutionary War Headquarters occured in Newburgh (1782-83) at the Hasbrouck family's Dutch style stone farm house. Now a National Historic Landmark, the grounds include the Hasbrouck house and adjacent museum featuring orientation video and galleries on the Continental Army's activities in the Hudson Valley. Nearby New Windosr Cantonment and Last Encampment of the Continental Army parks explore the life and living conditions of the everyday soldier.
  • West Point - Explore the complete history of American military activity from the place where it all started. View everything from Revolutionary battlements to modern day armaments.
  • Wilderstein - Country home of the Suckley family, last occupied by the "little brown wren", Margaret Suckley, long time personal friend and intimate acquaintence of FDR. The home, built in 1852, is currently undergoing a complete restoration including the preservation of its Tiffany designed interiors. You'll be fascinated by this intimate look into a family's home and history, and delighted by the remarkable interiors.
